EVOLUTION OF COMPUTER

  •       Introduction:-

The electronic machine, Computer, is an incredible invention in the human history. The history of computer goes around 100 years back but the evolution in the lifestyle of mankind has only been in the last 50 years.

  •       Evolution of Computer:-
  1. Abacus :-

-The Abacus was developed in China about 5000 years ago.

-It is the First Mechanical Calculator.

  1. Pascal’s Calculator:-

-The first calculator which was only able to do addition and subtraction.

-Invented by French Scientist and Mathematician, Blaise Pascal.

  1. ENIAC:-

-First Electronic digital computer.

-ENIAC stands for Electronic Numerical Integrator And Computer.

-Developed in 1946 by John Mauchley and J. Presper Eckert.

  1. UNIVAC 1:

-Introduced in 1951 as the First commercially available computer.

-It stands for ‘Universal Automatic Computer’.

         Computer Generation

      1. i) First Generation:-

-They used ‘Vacuum tubes’ to store instructions.

-They used ‘Magnetic Drums’ for memory/storage.

 

  1. ii) Second Generation:

-Computers used ‘Transistors’ instead of Vacuum tubes.

-They used ‘Magnetic Core’ for memory/Storage.

1. iii) Third Generation:-

  • The ‘Integrated Circuits’ (IC) replaced the transistors.

-The IC was developed by J. S. Kilbi

This exam is conducted by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) on yearly basis as directed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India.

This is computerized exam, having duration of 3 hours held in single session. The purpose of this exam is to evaluate the ability of students in various segments like Quantitative Technique, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension and General Awareness. This test facilitates Institutions to select suitable graduate candidates for admission in all Management programs.

The CMAT score is accepted by all AICTE-Approved Institutions/University Departments/Constituent Colleges/Affiliated Colleges. The exam is usually conducted in end of the January, probable dates are weekend days.

  • Eligibility Criteria for CMAT Exam
  1. Applicant must be a citizen of India.
  2. Graduates in any discipline can apply for CMAT exam.
  3. Final year students of Graduate Courses (10+2+3) whose result will be declared before commencement of admission for academic year  can also apply for CMAT online exam.
  • TEST DURATION & PATTERN
  1. There will be four sections in the test. The sections are ,
    (a) Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation
    b) Logical Reasoning
    c) Language Comprehension and
    d) General Awareness
  2. Each section contains 25 questions.
  3. The time duration 3 hour (45 minutes per subject).However you can always move into other sections.
  4. The exam has negative Each correct answer carries 4 marks and for negative answer 1 mark shall be deducted.
